Android Market
Android Market
The Android Marketplace is one of the easiest marketplaces to upload applications to. The interface is simple and user friendly and can be used by anyone. The fee to join is also the lowest of most of the main application marketplaces (Apple’s App Store costs about $100 for a developer to participate in, and RIM is twice as expensive – also RIM now charges per submission) so Google at only $25 to join and post apps is very appealing. The posting process is also easier and without gates/approvals so it’s MUCH faster to get an app into the Android Marketplace. Let freedom reign!
Given all the activity and discussion recently about Apple’s restrictive store policies that seem to be applied inconsistently (e.g. no racy apps except Playboy and Hooters are ok), it looks like the Android Market will become a more and more appealing place to sell apps. Combine that with the easy development framework and it’s not surprising that they already have 50k app (as of Mid May 2010). Watch out Apple – here comes Android and they are gaining on you!!!!
